Color Crush

Color Crush (was known as Xonakoid) is an upcoming brick buster (also known as a Breakout clone) to be used in the Kids Make Games project where we teach students game design and game development.

Design:

This is just some of the stages Andrew Hiltz's grade 3 class in Meadowfields Community School designed. There are 34 additional stage designs not shown here:

 

Download:

 

Install Instructions:

  1. Download ColorCrush.zip.
  2. Download xnafx40_redist.msi.
  3. Install xnafx40_redist.msi by double clicking it.
  4. Extract ColorCrush.zip to a "ColorCrush" folder, using Windows or WinRAR.
  5. Enter "ColorCrush" folder.
  6. Read the "info.txt" for control instructions.
  7. Double click "ColorCrush.exe" to run the game.

 

Controls:

XBOX 360 controller:

  • back = quit game
  • left thumbstick = move left
  • right thumbstick = move right
  • left trigger = speed up
  • right trigger = speed up
  • left shoulder = slow down
  • right shoulder = slow down

KEBOARD:

  • escape (ESC) = quit game
  • left arrow/s/j/numpad4 = move left
  • right arrow/d/k/numpad6 = move right
  • up arrow = change level up one
  • down arrow = change level down one
  • f = fast ball hack
  • g or m = toggle monochrome (remove color to "see" actual gameplay of level)
  • 0 = all bricks
  • 1 = Arkanoid stage 1
  • 2 = Arkanoid stage 1 with impossible barrier
  • 3 = Arkanoid stage 1 with possible barrier
  • 4 = Arkanoid stage 1 with level too close to paddle
  • 5 = Arkanoid stage 1 with level too close to paddle
  • c = clear level
